October 03, 2007 - 09:15 AM Michael Brakespear Adding to Roger B below, it seems that National Government CAN supply the funding for schemes such as widening the M1 – and often without any public enquiry. I am told this scheme is costing £13million per mile (or more). And surely "improving" the A453 will bring faster transit times for road vehicles to the edge of Nottingham but will only add to the congestion around Clifton/Clifton Bridge and elsewhere in Nottingham. Oh yes we can build another road crossing of the River Trent, but the expenditure required for this maybe similar to the cost of NET extensions. Yes the sooner NET is extended the better.
